On Saturday 8 April we welcomed over 1200 applicants to campus for Applicant Day 2017, who took in 52 presentations, 31 academic departmental stalls and hundreds of tour places over the course of the day. Here’s what 9 of those applicants had to say about the University of Stirling.
Olly Fitt from Cambridge, England
“I researched and looked at the University rankings before I came here. I’m a swimmer – Stirling’s got a very good swim team and some of the best Olympic swimmers come from Stirling, so it’s got everything I want – and it’s in a nice place.”
Hannah Leacock and Enya Murphy from Northern Ireland
“The buildings are really pretty. It’s our first time at the University of Stirling – [Applicant Day] is really well organised and everyone is so nice.”
Isabelle Bakam from Linlithgow, Scotland
“A lot of people I know studied Psychology here and really enjoyed it. I like the flexibility [of the courses] and the teachers are really nice as well.”
Dorothy Ward from Glasgow, Scotland
“I just think it’s a lovely university and I really like the campus. The whole feel of it seems really nice. [Applicant Day]’s been great so far.”
Shizi Liv from China
“I want to study Applied Film and Media Production. Stirling’s media major is better than other universities, and I think it would be relaxing to study here.”
Ben Falconer and Rebecca Heron from Edinburgh, Scotland
“From what I’ve heard [the degree] would be good for when I want to get a job. It’s a very nice, open campus.”
Mark Kelly from Derry, Ireland
“It’s a beautiful place here, and it’s not too far from home. The courses seem so interesting. The employability [after graduating] really appealed to me – it’s what first made me apply to Stirling.”
