Big crowds for Big Wednesday

Sport was the order of the day for Stirling’s first ‘Big Wednesday’ event which saw hundreds of athletes and supporters come together for a day of matches across campus.

With crowds braving the cold to cheer them on, the Women’s Football 1st XI, Women’s Rugby 1st XV and Men’s Football 4th XI all claimed important victories against Glasgow, Edinburgh and Napier to keep their title ambitions on track while the Men’s Football 2nd XI enjoyed the best result of the day as they secured the BUCS 1A Scottish Championship.

A successful week for the Men’s Football 1st XI with a 2-1 victory over Strathclyde in the Queen’s Park Shield, as well as a 4-2 Lowland League win against Gretna.

Euro wins for Stirling Swim

Meanwhile, Stirling swimmers Duncan Scott and Dan Wallace were part of the British Swimming squad at the season opener Euro Meet in Luxembourg, with Duncan winning the 100m and 200m freestyle events as well as securing a silver medal in the 200m butterfly.

Golf scholars shine in Portugal

Well done to golf scholars Sinead Sexton, Gemma Batty and Chloe Goadby for their performances at the Portuguese International Ladies Amateur Championships. In a strong field, Gemma led the Stirling effort with an excellent 10th place finish.

Clansmen dominate Nottingham Trent

The Clansmen came away with a 21-7 win over Nottingham Trent Renegades after a strong team performance and exceptional individual performances from Alex Crowe, Ashley Hopkinson, James Lightbody and True Rookie Antonio Capasso.
