My Favourite Cafés for Vegans in Stirling

Avocado toast

Whether you’re a vegan yourself or looking to expand your options and cut down on your meat consumption, knowing where to find some great vegan food and drink options is crucial.

Stirling is a great place to find something vegan-friendly to eat, both on our lovely campus as well as in the city centre. So, without further ado (and in no particular order), here are my favourite cafés for vegans in and around Stirling!

HBW Coffee

If you’re new to Stirling and haven’t been to this nice café before, you might be confused by the big ‘Opticians’ sign above the shop (spoiler alert: an optician used to be there).

HBW Coffee is a great go-to place if you fancy something sweet or savoury – they do pancakes, French toast, avocado sourdough toast (my favourite!), breakfast rolls and sweet breakfast bowls. The menu is vegan as standard, so you have lots of choice!

Fun fact: they make the seitan bacon in-house, and it’s delicious. Add it to your tofu ‘scramble’ and vegan French toast and you’re onto a winner!

Cafe Aina

Another place you don’t want to miss is Cafe Aina. Recently moved into the heart of Stirling city centre, this café offers a wide variety of savoury and sweet vegan treats. From vegan burgers, to breakfast souvlakis and homemade cakes – you will be spoilt for choice!

Unorthodox Roasters

This café in the city centre offers a varied menu, which does include a few great vegan options – like avocado toast (you can’t go wrong with that!) and vegan cakes. However, if you are a fan of hot chocolate – you must give their oat milk hot chocolate a try!

They also sell their own coffee and hot chocolate mixes so you can get your fix at home. This café also has an amazing garden space at the back, so you can enjoy your favourite vegan treats under the Scottish sun!

Vera Artisan Bakery

This micro bakery in the Stirling city centre is an absolute gem. They have a wide selection of vegan cakes and sweet treats (cue the massive vegan Oreo bun!) – which is all made fresh every day by the very talented and sweet bakers at Vera.

If you’re looking for something savoury, you can also find vegan sausage rolls, focaccias and bread. There’s limited seating space inside, so you can grab your vegan treat to go and enjoy it as you’re walking around the city centre!

The Book Nook

Recently opened in the city centre, the Book Nook has quickly become one of my favourites. It’s a bookshop and café all in one, so that’s two of my favourite things combined!

Even though the majority of their menu is not vegan, they do the most delicious vegan avocado bagel – which I usually enjoy alongside one of their vegan brownies.

The space inside as a really cool vibe – you can check out their amazing book collection, while you enjoy your vegan treats.

Toast

Located nearby Stirling train station, Toast is one of my old-time favourites. The food is so fresh, and they have a separate vegan friendly menu.

My favourite has to be the vegan flatbread with hummus, vegetables and sweet chili sauce – you have to try it! They also have a selection of toasts, bagels, cakes and sweet treats – you are bound to find something you really like.

Also, make sure not to overlook campus! The Venue and Studio at the Students’ Union have a pretty substantial selection of vegan food options and you can get your vegan latte fix at Underground. V-Go at Scran is a must for mid-lecture lunches and Refresh at Willow Court is fantastic if you’re staying on campus!
