Get to know your Vice President Education for 2024/25, Adelayo Adebayo.
Hi Adelayo! Can you tell us about your role at the Students’ Union?
I’m the Vice President Education and, as the name suggests, my role centres on education – something I believe brings people together.
I focus on the learning experience and student wellbeing and look at how I can make an impact in those areas.
I also work with academic representatives to ensure students feel supported. It’s really important to me that the student voice is heard.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I would say everything!
The reason we have a Vice President Education, a Union President, Sports President and Vice President Communities is because one can’t work without the other. Our jobs are intertwined to help the University become a better place by focusing on students’ needs.
So, I enjoy a lot of things – from helping students find their voice and representing those who feel they aren’t represented to providing support for students.
Can you describe yourself in three words?
Positive, consistent and resilient.
How can students get in touch with you?
My door and emails are always open. Students can email me on education.union@stir.ac.uk.
I’m also happy for people just to come up to me and say hi if they see me about campus.
Thanks Adelayo. Now onto the quickfire round:
Cats or dogs? Dogs.
Music or movies? Goodness, how to choose? I love both, but I’d have to say music.
Summer or winter? Winter. I can stop myself from getting cold in winter, but when the weather’s too warm in summer, there’s not much I can do about that.
Sweet or savoury food? Sweet.
Tea or coffee? Tea.
Night out or night in? Night in.
Android or iPhone? Android.
Audio book or physical book? Physical book.
Texting or voice messaging? It’s so hard to choose. I think texting.
Mondays off or Fridays off? Fridays off, definitely.
