Top tips to help you make the most of Welcome Week
Now that we’ve covered what Welcome Week is and what you can expect, let’s talk about how to do Welcome Week the right way.
To help you make the most of our range of events, follow these pro tips:
1. Do your research
Don’t worry – we’re not talking about academic research! We just mean that you should take a look at the Welcome Week pages on our website before you dive in.
Explore the line-up we’ve got on our website and bookmark the events that really stand out as activities you want to get involved in. That way you can build your schedule around the sessions you’re keen to attend and won’t miss out!
2. Check to see if you need tickets
Most of our Welcome Events are free, but you might be required to get a ticket for a few activities – especially some of the Union’s nighttime activities or trips off –campus that are in high demand.
Make sure to take a look at the event page on the events you’re keen on. It’ll tell you whether you need to get a ticket in advance (and whether that ticket costs money).
If you do want to attend a ticketed event, don’t sit on it! Get your ticket ASAP to make sure it doesn’t sell out.
3. Don’t be afraid to dive in
Not literally (unless you’re getting a taste of our Olympic-size swimming pool). We just mean that you should do your best to put yourself out there and get involved.
Starting a Masters degree at a new university can be a big deal – whether you’ve lived in Stirlingshire all your life, or you’ve travelled halfway across the world to start your postgraduate studies here in Scotland.
It’s important to remember that we’re a tightknit, international community here on campus. No matter who you are and what you’re into, we promise you there are other postgraduate students out there who’ve got the same passions. You just need to find them.
That’s what Welcome Week is all about.
These event and activities are set up to make you feel at home, encourage you to try new things, and introduce you to other students who might end up being friends for life.
So, what are you waiting for?
Stirling is your new home away from home. So, embrace Welcome Week and live your best life. You won’t regret it!
