If you’ve got a longer journey to campus, it’s good to know what’s here to help you.
From dedicated study support to advice on saving money on travel, campus wellbeing spaces and a commuting students network, here are some of the ways we’re making the commuting experience a little easier.
Money Support Team
Whether you’re looking for tips on saving money on travel, think you’d benefit from budgeting advice, or need support accessing grants and funding, our Money Support Team is here to help. You can book an online or in-person appointment through the Student Services Hub.
Wellbeing spaces
Commuting can be tiring, and some days you might just need a quiet space where you can recharge. There are a few places on campus where you can take a break and look after yourself, including the Loch View wellbeing suite, library wellbeing space and the Chaplaincy.
Student Learning Services
If you think you’d benefit from support to balance your studies with commuting and other commitments, speak to Student Learning Services. The team can work with you to develop a personalised learning strategy that fits around your commuting schedule.
You can book a face-to-face or online appointment through the Student Services Hub.
Personal tutor
Your personal tutor is here to help you stay on track with your studies, whether that’s through offering academic guidance or connecting you with Student Support Services.
You’ll usually meet with them once a semester, but you can ask for extra check-ins if you need them. If you find your commute is impacting on your studies at any point, let your personal tutor know – they can offer flexible support and help you plan ahead.
Other campus facilities
There are lots of facilities on campus to make commuting a bit easier for you.
If you don’t have a laptop, or don’t want to carry yours all day, you can borrow one from our laptop loan cabinet. And if you need somewhere to leave your things during the day, check out the commuting lockers beside the Chaplaincy. They’re free to use, just bring your own padlock.
There are also food and drink stations around campus you can use to make yourself a hot drink or reheat food. You’ll find a microwave beside Scran, and kettles in the Loch View wellbeing suite and Chaplaincy.

Commuting Students Network
We’re looking to set up a Commuting Students Network to help those who travel to campus from outside Stirling to connect with others, share tips, and feel more settled here.
If you’d like to join, please fill in our short form.
We hope you find these tips helpful! Remember, even if you don’t stay on campus, you’re still very much part of the Stirling community.
If you need any further information or support, get in touch with the Student Services Hub.
