Everyone experiences university in their own way. If you’re neurodivergent – whether you’re autistic, have ADHD, a specific learning difficulty like dyslexia, or something else – we want you to know we’re here to support you.
From personalised learning strategies to quiet spaces and wellbeing resources, there are a range of services in place to help you feel confident, this semester and beyond.
Accessibility and inclusion
Our Accessibility and Inclusion service is here to make sure you can learn in a way that works for you. If you have any additional needs, you can chat with one of our advisers to explore the support available. Examples of support could include assistive technology, teaching adaptations, or a dedicated mentor.
You can book an appointment with the team through the Student Services Hub. The earlier you reach out, the sooner they can get things set up for you.
“My ASD mentor helps me voice issues I’m having regarding accessibility and does not make me feel like a burden for needing help and support. I look forward to our meetings as I know I can be myself.”

Sensory-friendly spaces on campus
The Loch View Wellbeing Suite is a peaceful space you can visit anytime you need a moment to yourself.
It has quiet study pods, an arts and crafts area, a tea and coffee station, a big selection of books, and plenty of comfy seating. It also includes a dedicated sensory room – introduced in response to feedback from our neurodiverse student community. Inside, you’ll find things like a water feature, weighted blankets and sensory-sensitive toys.
Flexible and focused study options
The library is spread over three levels, with Level 3 set aside for quiet study – so only quick conversations are allowed. Level 4 is a silent study zone, which means no talking at all.
You can also book study rooms across campus thanks to our ‘Empty Space = Study Space’ initiative. It lets you reserve a spot in advance, so you know you’ll have a quiet place to focus when you need it.
Support with study strategies
Everyone works and learns differently, and Student Learning Services is here to help you find what works best for you. They can support you with things like structuring essays, developing a personalised study plan, or offering constructive feedback to help you feel more confident in your academic work.
Make an appointment through the Student Services Hub.
Mental health and emotional wellbeing
Student life is great, but it can also be overwhelming at times. Our Mental Health and Wellbeing Team is here to support you with whatever’s on your mind. Whether you’re feeling low, dealing with stress, or just need someone to talk to, you’re not alone.
“I have found things way more manageable since I started having this support. I can’t commend it enough, it’s brilliant.”

Help with funding and finance
If you’re worried about money at any point during your studies, we have a friendly team of Money Advisors who can help. Whether it’s day-to-day budgeting, managing bills, or understanding what funding or grants you might be entitled to, the team can support you in a way that works for you.
