Clearing 2024 advice for mature students

Student working on computer

At the University of Stirling we welcome applications through UCAS Clearing from all students, including mature students.

Clearing is not just for school leavers who didn’t achieve the results they needed or changed their mind. Mature students are classed by UCAS as anyone over the age of 21 who didn’t go to university after school or college.

UCAS Clearing explained

Not familiar with the Clearing process? Don’t worry. It’s actually pretty simple.

UCAS Clearing is an application process that pairs applicants with places at UK universities that haven’t yet been filled.

If you want to learn more about exactly what Clearing is, check out our Clearing hub for more information.

How can mature students apply through Clearing?

If you want to secure a place through Clearing, the process begins on 5 July 2024.

That means if you’re not waiting on exam results and would like to apply, you can do so from 5 July.

As soon as you’re able to get in touch, you should chat to a member of the University of Stirling’s Clearing Team to learn about all of your options. We can help you secure a place.

When you do get in touch with us, please be sure to have all your qualifications or exam results at hand so that we can give you an offer.

You may also be asked about different types of work experience or volunteering you’ve done, and so you may also want to have your CV handy when you’re chatting with us.

Finally, you should ask us if you’ve got any questions. Sit down beforehand and make a list of everything you want to know about Stirling, your chosen course, funding options, accommodation or student support. We’re here to help, and we’re always happy to answer any questions you might have.
