Results Day is almost upon us. First thing: don’t worry. Whatever happens with your exam results, there’s a potential solution (and our Clearing & Exams Helpline staff can give you specialist, impartial admissions advice).
Do your research
The key to your strategy is research. Read up on our Clearing guide and know what to expect on the day – especially if you think you’ll be applying to Stirling through UCAS Clearing 2018.

Talk to someone in the know
You should always talk to your parents, guardians, friends or teachers about what you want to achieve, both long-term and short-term. Even just having someone to bounce ideas off means you’ll be verbalising your plan. It’s also worth speaking to someone in the know – and our Clearing & Exams Helpline is a great place to start.
Our specialist Admissions staff offer impartial advice over the phone, even before you get your results. Give them a call on +44 (0)1786 466166, even if it’s just for a quick chat about your options.
Draw up your plan
Whatever you’re planning to do on Results Day, write it down in a logical order. Stick it on the fridge. Keep a visual reminder in plain sight of what you’re going to do on the day. Write a checklist for these items, making sure you have them to hand on Results Day:
- Exam results
- UCAS ID
- UCAS Personal Statement
- Your CV
These are all important, and we may ask you questions about your motivations for applying – so make sure you read and understand what you’ve said in your Personal Statement.
It’s a hard fact that you may not get the results you want when you get that envelope, text or email, so strengthen your resolve. Remember to think positively and have open, frank discussions with loved ones, friends and university staff. There may still be an opportunity for you in Clearing, and there are alternative routes into university.
You may get a pleasant surprise on Results Day – in which case, UCAS Adjustment may be something you should consider. You can talk Adjustment with our staff through the University of Stirling Clearing & Exams Helpline.
Pick up the phone on Results Day
This is it. This is your time for action.
Once you’ve received your results in August, all you need to do is pick up the phone and call our Exams & Clearing Helpline (+44 (0)1786 466166). We’ll guide you from there – and the more prepared you are, the smoother things will run.
